of mana intuitiva
Originally from the Florida shores of Miami, Raelle Ayanna Joni has travelled far and wide, painting her heart out and sharing the intuitive, child-like magic that flows from her hands. With parents born and raised in the Dominican Republic and Ayiti, the name of her craft is spoken in one of her native tongues, spanish. mana intuitiva (all lowercase, as the artist prefers to spell it) most simply means exactly what it translates to in english: working with the power of “intuitive hands”. I had the pleasure and honour to collaborate with her on a rebrand of her business, from late 2021 to early 2022, as she transitioned from North Carolina back to Florida.

The rebranding required photography, videography, graphic design, web design, and a bit of collaborative creative direction, marketing, and copywriting. I carried out these duties with tight deadlines and a minimal budget. The website was designed within 72 hours — just in time to accompany the roll-out of her first exhibition feature, which was part of her Zero Empty Spaces artist residency. A bulk of her graphics used for the 72-hour web design session, including a flyer for marketing the exhibition, were designed before the session for maximising both design and marketing time. As a crucial part of her rebranding, I used my iPhone to take artist headshots, and capture photo and video of her in her artist studio before designing the website as well. I combined the graphics, photography, and videography to create social media assets using my curated suite of iPhone apps.
As a result of our coordinated efforts, Raelle was able to secure multiple first sales of the original works of her art, as well as prints.
The nature of this project was very pop-up style, or impromptu. Due to that, as well as off-grid purposes, the website is no longer live, but you can see what was designed here.

Using her own art and a photo from our photography session, I designed the promotional flyer for her exhibition.
“[This] was one of the top things that really blew my mind, among many things.”
